Haus der Kunst

We were commissioned by PIN-UP to contribute to an environment that represented the magazine in the exhibit Paperweight at Haus der Kunst in Munich. Curated by Felix Burrichter and designed by Andreas Angelidakis, the show looked at 15 international, independent magazines. Each stands out as a forerunner of broader cultural shifts or movements. Publications like 032c, Apartamento, Bidoun, BUTT, and other selected magazines address subjects as varied as architecture, art, design, fashion, food, and sex.

The crazy thing? RO/LU partner Matt Olson was in the hospital and on heavy narcotics during almost the whole design phase; he doesn’t really remember a thing.

Furniture and Objects

Haus der Kunst
Munich, DE

We designed a plywood extension or echo of a somewhat unreal marble bed by Rick Owens. Using art history as a material and with a definite wink to the cover of PIN-UP’s inaugural issue, we made a form we love more democratic and accessible.
